Schools sometimes provide administrative and clerical support to athletic teams, to give coaches more time to perform their coaching and recruiting duties. Although some teams may need more support than others, overall there should be no discrimination against female teams. For example, it would probably be a Title IX violation if the men’s basketball team received clerical support while the women’s team did not. This would leave the coach of the women’s team with more duties, which would detract from time spent coaching and recruiting.
